The Twig Project

What is The Twig Project?

The Twig Project is an all breed dog rescue based in Madison, Wisconsin.  We serve the southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois areas.

We work closely with local and regional shelters and animal control facilities to provide second chances to dogs who have run out of options and are facing euthanasia.  Being an all breed rescue, any dog is welcome, and we never discriminate based on breed, age, physical appearance or existing medical issues.

The Twig Project does not maintain a shelter facility.  
All of the dogs in our program are housed in loving foster homes until they are adopted by their forever homes.  This gives us the ability to provide each dog with personalized attention, address all medical and nutritional needs the dog may have, and  thoroughly evaluate each dog in a home environment, ensuring that each dog will be ready for placement when that time comes.  Foster parents treat each foster dog as if it was their own pet, and will work to overcome any behavioral issues the dog may have, as well as teach them the everyday, "real life" skills that will help them adjust in their new home.  Dogs in our program never have a "time limit", and will stay with their foster home as long as it takes to find the perfect forever home.  We NEVER shuffle dogs through our program as quickly as possible, and we ALWAYS place quality adoptions ahead of quantity.
